An initial approach in the first year of the Master’s degree allowed the students to familiarize themselves with the purchasing function. Based on this background, the Purchasing Strategy module gives future purchasing managers the means to assume the role of strategic contributors to firm performance. This module will provide students with an understanding of the core tasks and responsibilities of a Purchasing and Supply Management (PSM) organization and its contribution to the organization’s overall strategy, through the application of core PSM strategies, processes and tools. One of the key PSM strategies is supplier selection. Therefore, the second part of the course focuses on financial analysis and supplier evaluation processes and tools. Students will be able to analyze and interpret the financial health of a supplier and choose accordingly the appropriate sourcing and supplier management strategy.
